This might just make your day.

Welcome! I'm Sonya Joy Mack and you're subscribed to The LIVE JOY LETTERS: a collection of letters for women who need encouragement to conquer the chaos and live in the JOY God intended.

Whether you're new to the LIVE JOY LETTERS or long-time subscribers, let me extend a huge Midwestern hello! Here's to praying you can find a quiet spot and sink into all this goodness.

From the mouths of babes.

Thursday is my day off (hence why you often get emails from me on Thursdays). Earlier in the year, my girls asked me if I would brave the drop-off lane to take them to school on Thursdays rather than riding the bus.

Despite my best judgment, I agreed. Like every Thursday, I drop off my oldest first then proceed to drop off my 2nd grader. On our way to school today, she inquired as to what I would be doing with my day off.

I proceeded to list off a few things on my to-do list, neatly time blocked as I coach my LIVE JOY LIFERS, to which she replied.

"Maybe you should go to the church."

I could see where she was coming from, as this used to be a regular part of my Thursday morning but I had begun to skip this vital step as life began to get busier. Thinking it through for only a moment, I replied, "You know what, Soph, I think I will go to the church."

Immediately she let out a HUGE breath and signed. "Thank goodness."

Of course, I was perplexed by her reaction and inquired as to why she was so relieved I was going to spend some time with Jesus at the church.

"Well, Ms. Monica (her First Communion teacher) told us she wanted us to invite someone to go to church or spend time praying, and I FINALLY found someone to say it to."

🤣🤣🤣

Laughing out loud, I blew her a kiss as she headed into the school and then turned my car toward the church.

What I would find over the next 30 minutes of silence sitting in the back of our little chapel, was exactly the peace and conversation with God I had been yearning for.

So today, I encourage you to "go to the church." If you can't get there literally, enter the silence of your heart with Jesus, and try this:

  1. Bring a pen, paper, and your Bible.
  2. Open up the Bible
  3. Point to a verse and read it through 2-3 times.
  4. Listen to what God wants you to hear.
  5. Write down His response.

I promise, it just might make your whole week.

P.s. if you want to read more about Sophia's miracle story, it's in my book.

Prayer for you

As always, a prayer for you.

Lord Heavenly Father. I pray for Reader today. May You invite her into your presence so she too may see that You are all she needs in this life of busyness. Help her to find the time she needs to seek you, whether it's been minutes, days, or years since your last meeting. In the silence, may she see the miracle that she is.

In Jesus' name.

If something in this email touched your heart, don't forget to invite your friends. They can sign up below.

As always, we are in this together.
